Anika S. Goodwin, MD, FACS is a board certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997 and her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 2001. Dr. Goodwin completed her internship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 and her residency in ophthalmology at the State University of New York – Downstate University Health Center at Brooklyn in 2005. She completed a fellowship in trauma/ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Kresge Eye Institute at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 2006. Dr. Goodwin previously held a faculty appointment at the University of South Carolina where she also served as residency program director. Prior to this, she had a successful private practice and medical spa in Georgia. She previously served our veterans as a member of the Division of Plastic Surgery while maintaining part time private practice activities . She is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Goodiwn specializes in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids, brow, midface, orbits, and tear ducts. She has performed over ten thousand surgical procedures. She enjoys teaching and continues to work with clinicians of various disciplines.
She is an innovator and telemedicine thought leader serving as CEO of EYEmergencyMD, a company she founded in 2018. EYEmergencyMD is the first and only telemedicine company devoted to acute eye care. She also serves as Chief Medical Officer of 20/20NOW the first comprehensive remote eye care provider.
Dr. Goodwin is licensed in 47 states and is an authority on utilizing the IMLC to leverage telemedicine opportunities.
